Cyber Commanders Forum: International cyber commanders visit Switzerland
Bern, 22.10.2026 — The Swiss Armed Forces’ Cyber Command hosted the Cyber Commanders Forum (CFF) 2026 in Thun from 19 to 21 October. The international meeting brought together representatives of military cyber organisations and provided an opportunity to discuss current challenges, share experiences and explore ways of working together to strengthen resilience in cyberspace.
The forum is hosted by a different participating nation each year. The Swiss Armed Forces offered to host this year’s event. The Cyber Commanders Forum (CCF) provides a platform for sharing experiences, learning from one another and further strengthening international cooperation in cyberspace. Resilience in cyberspace is achieved when individual capabilities are specifically linked and coordinated before a crisis occurs.
The CCF focused on strengthening resilience in cyberspace, innovation and international cooperation. Under the heading ‘Ahead of the Threat’, various participants outlined how the Swiss Armed Forces are preparing for the constantly evolving threat landscape in cyberspace and how they can further develop their capabilities. Among other things, the discussion centred on how innovation can help to identify threats at an early stage and strengthen one’s own resilience, and what role artificial intelligence plays in this.
The international guests were also given an insight into the Swiss Armed Forces’ education and training opportunities in the cyber sector. These range from pre-service training SPARC and the cyber course, right through to the Cyber Training Centre, where skills are practised and developed under realistic conditions. In doing so, the Cyber Command demonstrated how cyber capabilities are being built up and further developed in the Swiss Armed Forces over the long term.
Contributions from national and international guests
Panel discussions – featuring participants from the Federal Office for Cybersecurity, the Zurich Cantonal Police, and the grid operator Swissgrid, among others – highlighted national cooperation aimed at strengthening resilience in cyberspace. The discussion highlighted the importance of coordinated skills and close cooperation across organisational boundaries.
The participating nations also shared their experiences and perspectives. In a series of presentations, representatives from the USA and Poland provided insights into current developments, challenges and potential solutions in the cyber domain.
