National Armaments Director holds bilateral talks with Danish counterparts in Copenhagen

Bern, 16.01.2026 — National Armaments Director Urs Loher will meet with the Danish Armaments Director Lieutenant-General Kim J. Jørgensen for bilateral talks from 15 to 16 January 2026 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The exchange will focus on current security and arms policy topics as well as possible cooperations in the armaments area. In addition, the bilateral agreement on the mutual recognition of official quality controls between Switzerland and Denmark will be signed.

The bilateral armaments meeting between Switzerland and Denmark will take place from 15 to 16 January 2026. National Armaments Director Urs Loher will hold discussions with his Danish counterpart, Lieutenant-General Kim J. Jørgensen, on national and international topics in the area of armaments.

The expert discussions will cover current arms policy topics, such as national security and arms policy developments in Switzerland and Denmark, the European armaments cooperation and current as well as future arms procurements. Specifically, topics concerning procurements in the area of ground-based air defence and national efforts in the area of drones will be discussed.

In addition, the Armaments Directors will sign the bilateral agreement on the mutual recognition of official quality controls (“Government Quality Assurance, GQA”). This offers both countries the chance to perform official quality controls and technical quality inspections for each other in ongoing defence equipment procurement. Quality controls are a key component of the procurement of defence equipment. If they are performed by arms procurement authorities in the supplier country, synergies can be used, particularly if the same systems are procured from manufacturers.
